Annual Senior Citizen Chicken BBQ
The Sunday of Labor Day weekend means one of our favorite events where we give back in a different way.….we cook and deliver a chicken dinner to members of our community….how do we say it, “Older adults”. Normal menu is Grilled chicken breast, coleslaw, fruit salad and corn on the cob….this year we had an addition of potato salad courtesy of longtime member and Honorary FF Matthew Cole. This tradition started almost 40 years ago after our annual summer picnic produced too much food!! This year we had 30-40 people; WFD members and their family members working to cook and prepare all the fixings and then deliver to our recipients. We hope everyone enjoyed their meals.
We found that our list, while very comprehensive, our phone numbers are becoming outdated with people getting rid of land lines and using cell phones.. If you were on the list or know friends that are, please encourage them to contact us either at the fire station or through social media with the new numbers!! Thank you to Chief Moore and LT White for organizing this year!!
